A laser-based reset system is our solution to this challenge: The laser beam hits the satellite’s solar cells, which are overloaded. This undesirable behaviour is evaluated by the satellite’s systems as a need for a restart, which can resolve the error. In the case of our tests, we’ll send a signal to the satellite to fix a minor software bug causing communication problems.

Laser arm is currently only a model and the final version will look quite different. This is not a weakness, it allows us to talk about our exciting tests at the Teplice Observatory and the HiLase Laser Center. LASARM will be able to be mounted on a telescope for precise beam pointing.
